Doo-wee-doo

Called in sick for work for the rest of the week, because I am feeling extraordinarily shitty. This means money will be scarce in February, probably... then again I'll be studying a course full-time next term so I will actually receive an allowance to even things out.

Did I forget to mention that? Apart from Ancient Greek, I'll be taking a course in "Life and Culture in Antiquity" and I'm really looking forward to it. :D

... I am not looking forward to the exam on Friday so much. I have reached the point where I have so many aspects floating around in my head I didn't recognise a verb in present middle indicative (that's very very basic stuff, for those who never got into linguistics).

Anyway, yesterday, I spent eight hours making a gingerbread house.

More accurately, [livejournal.com profile] stalkerbunny, Radagasting and I spent eight hours in my kitchen making a gingerbread TARDIS.

We got started around twelve o'clock. I e when it was still light outside (I am not in any pictures. It is hard to be when you're trying to do important documentation).

How many Nimons have you seen today?"

Putting the thing together was harder work than one might've thought, as the gingerbread cookie dough (based on my grandmother's secret recipe) was softer even when baked than cookies usually are.

Using a wine bottle as support, we unintentionally made the perfect metaphor for the series itself.

We wondered if this is what the sepcial effects department in the classic series felt like.

Redoing the frosting...

Ta-daa!

Eight hours is a bit long, but it should be pointed out that we went into this project with not much more than enthusiasm and cookie dough, so I think that it worked out all right. Also, we had to make an emergency run to the supermarket and eat dinner as well.

Overall, a hard day's work well paid off!

Looks like a lot of fun was had!

Eight hours is nothing when there's good company and enthusiasm (and cookie dough).

There was! My legs hurt from standing and walking around in the kitchen so much when I went to bed.

This is true. I am now resisting the urge to go grab a fistful of dough that got left over and eat it. >___>;

Wow, this is so fabulous! I love how the TARDIS turned out. I hope you're satisfied with all that hard work that went into it! <3 Love it.

We didn't really expect it to turn out very differently. |'D Though the mini marshmallow for the light on top was a stroke of genius. We had loads and loads of fun, glad people like it. <3

why did you guys make a nimon? WHY? WHYYYYY? ... then again, it sort of fits. WELL DONE MY DEARS!

och du, orkar du kanske träffa mig nån dag?

THE NIMON BE PRAAAISED. If it helps, it's not there anymore. It fell down and broke and I had to have pity on it and eat it.

Det beror på när? Måste verkligen plugga till tentan på fredag och skriva klart Yuletide. Annars är jag ledig hela veckan, förutom på fredagen då...

gingerbread tardis \o/

very exciting. although i also wonder about the randomness of the nimon. then again - why not, i say. good stuff.

If it looks a bit wobbly it's probably no worse than the exterior of the actual TARDIs, right?

The Nimon... there is no proper explanation for the Nimon. Except we watched that serial last time we got together all three of us (I own it, actually, because of DVD boxsets) and it's pretty much impossible for us to avoid quoting that clip ever since, so. It seemed funny at the time?

Nimons are intrinsically funny, fear not. I do sort of understand...

What a neat idea; Tardis gingerbread house! Well done :)

Thank you! It wasn't that difficult, though a lot of work, but I only say that because I wasn't the one who had to use math to make the blueprint.
