DreamWidth
Jan. 1st, 2013 04:54 pmSo, in honour of a new year and new beginnings, I have now moved to DreamWidth.
I'll still be around on LJ, obviously; there are still many communities that are active and friends that haven't moved. But I've been thinking of moving for a long time, and what with LJ being even more unreasonable than usual lately it seemed right.
If you have a DW account, my username is
regndoft.
(Now let's see if this crossposting actually works...)

Date: 2013-01-01 05:23 pm (UTC)Yeah, that's... probably the reason it's taken me so long. I wonder what one could do about that? (apart from finding places to hang out, to begin with). Still, as you say, at least it works. At least there aren't ads separating every entry on my F-List. :I LJ has been terribly out of it lately... and I who finished Kursaal today, too.

Date: 2013-01-01 05:35 pm (UTC)although i did see your list of things you read this year and go a bit... whoops, leading people down the path of 'too many EDAs, not enough time'. but i quite liked kursaal... so... that's ok?
as for DW... no idea. there aren't many comms i'm a member of over here, which might contribute to it. don't meet people, don't see things pop up on my f-list, etc etc. the DW friending meme was useful, but the DoctorWho friending meme over on LJ was even better (for me). i'm happy to have them both running at the moment, i guess.

Date: 2013-01-01 05:46 pm (UTC)I found Kursaal a bit... maximum build-up with minimum pay-off? The concept wasn't bad but the execution fell a bit flat. Might've worked better if it had been shorter (or a NuWho episode; the 45 minute format makes for much more condensed storytelling, for good or bad).
I guess the answer is always "be active!" but, idk, the problem is that most things you can do on DW, you can also do on LJ? Which is the point, I guess, but it makes posting redundant if LJ is going to be more active anyway.
I thiiiink I saw a promptfest floating around on some Doctor/Master comm though, so I might entertain myself by writing drabbles while I'm in London...
