13. Has a fic ever made you cry?
Ahaha, too many times to count. Though not very recently, come to think of it, but that might be partly because I haven't read much fic recently that I haven't already read...
14. What tropes/elements/scenarios get you the worst?
The first that comes to mind is one that I thankfully don't see around too often; memory loss. As in, a character permanently loses their memories, all of them or of a specific person or events. Made even worse if this happens gradually, and the character and/or their loved ones are aware of this change. I read a fic with this premise way, waaaay back when I was just a bby fan (14) and clearly it scarred me for life.
Overall, situations that have a sense of permanence tend to get to me, I think. The feeling of loss, of having reached a point of no return, that the characters have lost something they'll never get back... I prefer angst fics where the point is that the characters struggle to rise above their hardship, and the ending is ultimately hopeful.
15. Do you mind when characters cry?
Depends on the character. If it's IC, or if I can be persuaded that it's IC, then why the hell not? I cry a lot, both when I'm depressed and when I'm not.
16. How do you feel about character death in fic?
It can be written well; when it's not, it feels very cheap. But on the whole I... tend to avoid them. Because when done well it hurts.
17. Any characters who you can’t stand to see in pain?
This is a difficult question, especially as I don't tend to read THAT much angst fic... I think on the whole, it's harder for me to enjoy angst fic about characters that have a gratuitous amount of angst in canon - unless the fic is about dealing with those canon issues. This is especially true of long-running canons. *CoughCough*
18. Favourite angst fic?
AHAHAHAH. As I said, I don't tend to read that much angst fic. Good angst fic stays with you without having to re-read it. Plus, it can sometimes be hard to determine what is proper angst fic (at least in Doctor/Master fandom, which is the most deceptive fandom I've ever been in. The crack will break your heart and darkfic tropes are sudden sources of hilarity).
But the first that comes to mind is Burning Ground. Probably because not only is it heartwrenchingly painful, but beautiful as well.
